Where Do My Kids Go?

We love children at University Baptist Church and have age-graded classes for everyone in your family. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m., where members of UBC's Children's Ministries lead children in a time of Bible lessons, music, and crafts.  Worship begins after Sunday School at 10:45 a.m.  Extended Teaching Care (ETC) occurs during Worship Service for newborn to 5 year-olds. Classes are located in the Agape Building on the south end of the campus.

Because your child’s safety is of the utmost importance to us, babies and toddlers will receive a numbered sticker to place on his or her clothing at check-in. Parents are given a corresponding sticker to be returned to the classroom teacher when the child is picked up.

Your teens will be thrilled to experience a high-energy, interactive program that is both fun and committed to helping them build Godly character. Students in 6th through 12th grades are located in the Youth Center. If you have trouble finding the class, feel free to ask one of the sidewalk greeters for directions.

What Are the Worship Services Like?

The Sunday Morning Worship Service at University Baptist Church is designed to help you discover God and bring you into His presence through a variety of music, biblical teaching, and prayer.  Worship begins at 10:45 a.m. and usually lasts about an hour.  The Pastor keeps his message simple by focusing on how to apply biblical teachings to your everyday life.  Every Sunday is different, but we always seek to encourage and equip you to begin a lifestyle of worship.

As you enter the Worship Center, our ushers will welcome you, hand you our information-filled worship guide, and direct you to your seat. Come comfortable – we are not worried about your attire at UBC, just your heart! We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

What Else Happens on Sunday Morning?

Each Sunday is an exciting day at University Baptist Church. Our prayer service begins at 8:30 a.m. as we seek God's will in making disciples.  In Sunday School classes you will have a chance to connect with new friends and learn about all of our church ministries. There is a Sunday School class for everyone – adults, students, and children. Check in at our Welcome Center and find out exactly where your class is located.

During worship service, you have the unique opportunity to discover God through music, biblical teaching, and prayer.

Can I Meet the Pastor?

Randy Bales, pastor of University Baptist Church, has a heart for people. Immediately after the Sunday morning worship services, the pastor hosts a reception line outside of the main worship entrance to greet guests and church members. When you visit the church, please stop by and introduce yourself; we can’t wait to meet you!

The pastor and other staff members rotate into University Orientation, a 4-week introductory course designed for visitors, and are available to answer your questions. This class provides a great way to learn about UBC’s vision, various areas of service and more about our ministers. You can also read about our staff.

How Do I Become a Member?

University Baptist Church is a local fellowship of believers joined together by God’s call and purpose. If you are a new member, or interested in becoming a member, we encourage you to attend University Orientation. This class gives an overview of who we are, what we’re doing, and provides you with the opportunity to find where you fit. This four-week class is offered seasonally in the spring and fall.

UBC receives new members in one of these four ways:
  • Profession of Faith and Baptism – This option is for those who are inviting Jesus Christ into their lives and are ready to be baptized.  A follower of Jesus takes their first step of obedience when they are baptized.
  • Baptism - For those who have previously invited Jesus into their lives, but have not yet been baptized by immersion and wish to be baptized as a symbol of their acceptance of Jesus.
  • Transfer of Membership – For those individuals who are members of another Baptist church of like faith and belief.
  • By Statement of Faith in Christ – For those individuals who have invited Jesus into their lives and have been Biblically baptized by immersion, but are not presently members of a Baptist church or are unable to secure a letter of church membership.

If you would like to speak to someone about membership, please call the Church Office at (210) 699-1065 and set up an appointment to meet one-on-one with a staff member. We are here to help you.
